Adenoiditis is an inflammation of the pharyngeal tonsils, or adenoids, that occurs under the influence of infection. This condition most often develops in children, but can also occur in adults.
Adenoiditis is caused by viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens. Risk factors may also include genetics, poor diet, and environmental pollution.
The diagnosis of adenoiditis is made by an otolaryngologist based on the patient's complaints, examination of the nose and throat, and additional diagnostic methods such as X-ray examination.
Treatment of adenoiditis may include taking antiviral and antiallergic medications, nasal lavage, physiotherapy, and in some cases, surgical removal of the adenoids.
To prevent adenoiditis, it is recommended to strengthen the immune system, eat a balanced diet, engage in physical activity, and avoid contact with people with acute respiratory infections.
Adenoiditis is treated by an otolaryngologist.
