• Epidermal atheroma - formed as a result of blockage of the outlet duct of the hair follicle.
• Seborrheic atheroma - arises due to blockage of the sebaceous gland.

Symptoms

Atheroma manifests as a slowly growing, mobile, painful formation under the skin, usually on the head, neck, face, or in the genital area.

Causes

The causes of atheroma may be related to excessive sebum secretion, skin trauma, hormonal changes.

Diagnostics

Diagnostics are performed by a doctor based on inspection and palpation of the tumor. Sometimes, ultrasonography may be required.

Treatment
