Purulent otitis is an inflammatory disease of the ear, characterized by the presence of pus in the middle ear. It can occur as an acute form (acute purulent otitis), or become chronic.
Purulent otitis can be caused by bacterial or viral infection, as well as allergic reaction or impaired drainage of secretions from the middle ear.
The diagnosis of purulent otitis includes examination of the ear by an otolaryngologist, as well as audiometry and X-ray of the middle ear.
Treatment of purulent otitis may include taking antibiotics, ear irrigation, and the use of local anti-inflammatory agents. In some cases, surgical intervention may be necessary.
Treatment of purulent otitis is carried out by an otolaryngologist.
