Testicular cancer is a malignant neoplasm that develops in the tissues of the testicles. This disease is rare and accounts for less than 1% of all cancer cases in men.

Symptoms

Symptoms of testicular cancer may include swelling or enlargement of the testicle, a feeling of heaviness or pressure in the scrotum, pain or discomfort in the testicle or abdominal area.

Causes

The exact causes of testicular cancer are unknown, but some risk factors such as genetics, testicular trauma, or congenital anomalies, may increase the likelihood of the disease.

Diagnosis

Diagnosis of testicular cancer includes physical examination, ultrasound of the testicles, blood tests for certain proteins and testosterone.

Treatment

Treatment for testicular cancer may include surgical removal of the tumor, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.

Prevention

Prevention of testicular cancer includes regular self-examination of the testicles, avoiding testicular trauma, moderate alcohol consumption and unprotected sex, and seeking medical attention promptly if symptoms are present.
