Mugwort is an herb very popular in Chinese medicine. It has various properties: chologogue, vermifuge, emmenagogue, hemostatic, antispasmodic, mild narcotic, bitter narcotic. Mugwort tincture has stimulant and slightly tonic properties, and is of value as a nervine, having also diuretic and diaphoretic action. Its chief employment is as an emmenagogue. It is also useful as a stimulant for better digestion and as an appetite enhancer.
The tincture is also used in therapeutic ways to relieve aches and pains in muscles, joints, skin scratches, ulcers and tired swollen feet. Specifically, mugwort tincture is used for anxiety, stress, insomnia, asthma, bacterial and fungal infections, diarrhea, cramps, headache, irritability, restlessness, menopause symptoms, menstrual complaints, mild depression.
